I was reflecting on my time in Valdosta recently and I knew that I would look back on my time spent in Southern GA with great fondness. This despite the fact that the everyday experience at times felt a skosh mundane. Then, only a short time later, I came across this talk by Daniel Kahneman describing the differences between our "experiencing self" and our "remembering self" and how the two selves provide very different views of happiness. The video is good stuff!

Turn left!
It is hot in Southern G A! I have my toes in the water, my toes in the clay, I say! But one thing that beats the heat is when the boys jump in the cars and get ready to turn left and go straight real fast. And there is no place to go fast for a couple hundred miles like the quad-oval that is Charlotte. After burning fuel and rubber for most of the hour thirty five minutes, things boiled right down to interesting at the end. Hamblin was leading, but holding up the more than willing Kyle. Those two fussing up front allowed the man, Kurt Busch, to sneak on past for the lead and the win a couple of laps later. Wahoo! How about a fist pump for Kurt Busch?! I know I gave him one or two. Not long after taking the victory lap, the camera crews were right there breathing on him getting out of the car. That is when I saw something I just had to have to show my willing support for speed. It was his helmet neck collar. Got keep those necks healthy to check the blind spots, you know. I figured I would get one for the babe to remind her how to go fast. The trouble with finding a helmet neck collar for a baby is they come in limited sizes and colors. Well, this is the best I could do. Turn left! Go straight! Go fast!
